2010-2015: Anthony Barela’s entry into the disc golf world was nothing short of spectacular. In 2010, he made his debut, finishing 2nd at the 5th Annual Lemmon Drop (MA3) and 2nd at the Southern Arizona Disc Golf Classic (MA2). His ascent continued in 2011 with a victory at the King of the Mountain (MJ2). By 2012, Barela showcased his prowess by finishing 3rd at the PDGA Amateur Disc Golf World Championships. The following year, he claimed the title at the PDGA Amateur Disc Golf World Championships (MJ3) and the PDGA Junior Worlds Divisional Doubles. His breakout year came in 2015 when he won both the United States Amateur Disc Golf Championships and the Amateur Disc Golf World Championships, cementing his status as a rising star.
Becoming a Professional
2015 Onwards: In 2015, Barela transitioned to the Men's Professional Open division, continuing his streak of victories in local events and large A tiers. Despite his growth and numerous wins, a DGPT event victory remained just out of reach until the transformative 2024 season.

Chess.com Invitational Victory:
The 2024 season began with a breakthrough as Barela secured his first DGPT event win at the Chess.com Invitational. This victory was a moment of personal and professional validation. Texas State Disc Golf Championship:

Distance Competition Win:

Additional DGPT Elite Series Wins:
Barela’s winning streak continued with victories at the Jonesboro Open, Des Moines Challenge, and the 2024 Presidents Cup, where he represented Team USA. His intense final round at the Jonesboro Open, which ended with a narrow win over fellow Team Discraft athletes, highlighted his competitive spirit and determination.
