Getting You Started with Disc Golf
The quality and consistency of your equipment plays a major part in your success during practice and competition. This goes for ultimate, but even more so for disc golf. In Ultimate, it's you, your team, the competition, and your tool - the disc. In disc golf, it's you and your tools, nothing else.
As you may already know, there are hundreds of disc golf discs and plastic combinations, making that hunt for the perfect disc into a game of sorts. Where in Ultimate you pick up any UltraStar and can make sh*t happen. In disc golf, the variety of disc molds, weights, and plastic blends, means that it may take some time to find the discs that you can manipulate to their full potential. This opportunity to test different discs, converse with other players, and build a bag truly unique to you, is seen as one of the many joys of disc golf.
We have created this page to better help you get started with the sport of disc golf.
Skills? You've already got em'.
You may not believe it at first, but your ability to manipulate an UltraStar to do the things you want puts you legs ahead of new players. The thing to remember is that instead of using a single disc for a left fade and a right fade, you would replace each of those shots with a disc that can consistently make those fades without much extra disc manipulation
Let's get to the discs, already!
Here at Discraft we have over 45 molds produced in up to 10 different plastic blends. Some of these blends are soft and beat up easily, while others are a swirl of colors and will last you a lifetime. We have hand picked some discs for you that will cater best to the skills you already have.
To make things even easier, we've gone ahead and created a specific Ultimate to Disc Golf Starter Set. This pack features the discs listed above (or similar offerings) that will quickly get you up and running and save you a few bucks in the process. These discs are typically made from our softer blends, which makes them more affordable, but allows you to test some new molds at an affordable price.
